Caritas Therapy Centre

Caritas Therapy Centre was officially opened on 18 May 2016. Here we provide hope, healing and growth through therapy to individuals, couples and families from all walks of life throughout the Northern Cape and North West provinces. The Therapy Centre follows a multi-disciplinary team approach.

Play Therapist/ Forensic social worker

Estie Botha
Estie is a registered (SACSSP) Senior Social Worker. She holds a B Soc SC (SW) degree as well as a M.Soc.Sc (Clinical Social Work) (UFS). She also holds a M SW (Forensic Assessment) Cum Laude (UFS).

Estie is a member of The South African Association for Social Workers in Private Practice and South African Professional Society on the Abuse of Children. Field of practice: Emotional assessment of children with emotional and behavioural problems. Forensic assessment of children where there is suspected abuse or in child custody issues. Play and group therapy with children 3-14 years who are in need of emotional support, experienced trauma or loss. Bonding therapy with parents and children as well as parental guidance. Field of interest: social, emotional and character development of children. Training of parents and educators.

Clinical Social Worker

Charné Bennett
She is a registered (SACSSP) Social Worker and holds a B.Soc.Sc (SW) degree attained at the University of the Free State. Charne is responsible for the CHOICES Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programme at the Therapy Centre and coordinate Caritas’s School and Employee Wellness Programmes.

She is also a trained MLNP (Multi-Level-Neuro-Processing) Counsellor. Field of interest: Empowerment and Therapy with teenagers, adventure-based group therapy and training.

Psychometrist

Namaria Brits
She is a Registered Psychometrist in Private Practise and holds a B.Com (Hons) (Industrial Psychology) from the UFS. Namaria specialises in school readiness assessments, career counselling, grade 9 subject choices and recruitment and selection assessments.

Occupational Therapist

Melissa Parkin
Baccalaureus Occupational Therapy (UFS). Qualified in Ayres Sensory Integration in 2013. Group therapy course completed. Field of practice: paediatrics, sensory integration. Field of interest: premature infants, infant stimulation, a workshop for expectant mothers, group therapy, scholastic difficulties, sensory integration difficulties, and developmental delays.

Renette van Soest
Baccalaureus Occupational Therapy (UFS). Currently completing a qualification in Ayres Sensory integration. Field of practice: paediatrics, sensory integration. Field of interest: premature infants, infant stimulation, a workshop for expectant mothers, group therapy, scholastic difficulties, sensory integration difficulties, and developmental delays.

Occupational Therapist

Jeanine Boshoff
Baccalaureus Occupational Therapy degree attained at the University of the Free State (UFS) in 2008. Community service year completed in 2009. Employed by Department of Health and worked at Kimberley Hospital from 2010-2014 whilst working part-time (locum) in private practice.

Full-time in private practice in Kimberley from 2014-current. Completed Little Steps Facilitators Course 2011. Qualified in Ayres Sensory Integration in 2017. Field of practice: paediatrics, sensory integration. Field of interest: premature infants, infant stimulation, workshops for expectant mothers, developmental delays, sensory integration difficulties, poor academic progress, paediatric group therapy.

Counselling Psychologist

Petro Moolman is a Counselling Psychologist and holds a M.Soc Sc (Counselling Psychology) from UFS. Filed of interest: Psychotherapy in stress management, depression, anxiety, family therapy, couple’s relationships, trauma and bereavement.

Life Coach

Keydy O’Callaghan
He holds a BA (Admission), B Th (Theology), Licentiate in Theology degrees at Stellenbosch University. He is also trained as MLNP (Multi-Level- Neuro-Processing) Counsellor and MLNP Life Coach. He is responsible for Life Coaching, Pastoral Counselling and Occultism at the Therapy Centre.

SA Mediators/ Registered Councillor

Hansie Strydom
Hansie is a Registered Counsellor and Family Law Mediator. He has been in private practice since 2011. Hansie does general supportive counselling with an interest in Trauma Counselling, Marriage and Relationship Counselling, Substance Abuse Counselling. He is registered with the HPCSA and BHF for independent practice.

Hansie holds the following qualifications: BA Hons (Psych); BA Counselling; and Dip Ministry.

SA Mediators

Schalk Strydom
Schalk is an Advocate and Family Law Mediator. He specialises in divorce mediation; labour law and mediation and law of contracts. He holds the following qualifications: BA Law (LLB); B Tech Policing; N Dip Pol Admin; Cert: General Management.

Our Training unit

The Therapy Centre also has a training unit for optimal functioning. The training unit’s focus is on the training and capacity building of individuals, groups and communities.
